Huge apologies if any of you have nominated me for an award and I haven’t got around it yet. I have quite a backlog, and only have time to get around to one a week. Bear with me; I will get through them 🙂
Thank you to Anushka Hazra for the nomination. Anushka writes an elegant catwalk of a blog; tipping the reader to latest fashions and trends. It is well worth taking a look.
Guidelines:
(As we know, I do not marry well with the word ‘rules’, it summons cheeky little micro-tantrums that sprint a flaming streak, all truncated and rebellious–guidelines it is!)
- Thank the person who nominated you.
- Answer the questions the person who nominated you asked.
- Write about why you are passionate about blogging (I feel this is adequately covered in my answers to the questions.
- Share 10 random facts about yourself.
- Nominate at least 5 blogs for the award.
- Ask your own set of questions for your nominees.
Ten facts about She:
- I have a cat who likes to take walks on a lead.
- I have found out I am lactose intolerant. Now I take lactase tablets everywhere.
- I have a scar on my forehead from a biking accident. Thankfully, my skin is so pale, it only shows if I get a suntan—which is rare.
- I taught myself how to lucid dream.
- I create my own languages—this hobby is called Conlanging. One of my created languages has a highly intricate writing system where sentences are galaxies, clauses are solar systems, and phrases are the planets with pretty, convoluted weather systems on the surfaces, which identify the phonetic and grammatical elements.
- I have more friends who don’t know what my birth name is than people who do, I have almost left it behind (sorry Mum and Dad!!) Why: it is a pretty name, but I don’t feel it defines me. It clashes with my identity, fighting fisticuffs between expectation and reality.
- I hate getting my face wet. I wash by gently splashing water, cat like, or with a damp towel or face wipe.
- I have named my car. She is called Yippee (Yip for short), because she has so much fun!
- I like painting in abstract because everything I draw turns out all quirky and distorted. This means I absolutely cannot draw faces or anything else real life accuratley. I think I see the world wonky.
- My eyebrows are so light, they are difficult to see.
Anushka’s Questions:
How did you find the idea of starting a blog? I really like this question, because it is an example of lexical ambiguity. Does it mean:
- How was my experience of starting a blog—fairly standard I should think 🙂
- How did I discover the idea of starting a blog—I didn’t; The idea of starting a blog discovered me. I needed somewhere to gain feedback from my writing, to gauge whether I had any potential as a writer when it comes to publishing. A blog seemed like the perfect medium.
What is your most prized possession? Probably my travel diaries. I have hand written books detailing my journeys through each of the 34 countries and 18 USA states I have visited.
Who or what inspires you the most in the world? Impossible to answer, as there must be a hundred thousand answers to this. Perhaps I might mention Chum Mey, one of seven survivors of the Khmer Rouge S-21 prison during the Cambodian genocide, who speaks to tourists passing through every day about the terrible crimes that took place. Perhaps I might mention Margaret Atwood, whose writing titillates my inspiration bones, perhaps I might mention my father, with his ever ready wisdom and witty tongue. On the other hand, stalagmites also make great in-spires.
What is one thing about yourself that you are really proud of? A strong moral compass.
What are your blogging goals for 2018? Finish the story. Hope I can smile at it. Christen it with a title.
Describe one of your brilliant ideas or your eureka moment or something that you are most proud of. Off the top of my head—I am proud to have written and directed a play. It was crazy hard work, but very much worth it. I am also proud of my academic achievements.
What matters to you more when it comes to blogging-greater self-satisfaction or greater recognition? Self-satisfaction. I cannot post something unless I am satisfied with it, and I wouldn’t expect you good people to read it either. It is possible that self-satisfaction leads to a better blog, which may lead to greater recognition—but that may also, possibly, be a fat, smiling load of moose droppings.
If you could take 30 minutes off from your day and do just one thing, what would it be? Delve into the wondrous possibilities of the mind. I enjoy a good stretch of mind-yoga 🙂
What is the most important lesson that you have learned in your blogging journey up till now? Be yourself.
What is that first thing that pops up into your mind when you look at yourself in the mirror every morning? Eek, where are my eyebrows!
I hope you have fun answering these questions. Let me know when you do because I would love to read your answers. No pressure though.
My Questions:
(I am having fun this time, try and stop me! If you answer these, I would love if you let me know so I don’t miss out reading them!)
- What would be the coolest animal to scale up to the size of a t-rex, and why?
- If you had been arrested with no explanation, what would your family assume you had done?
- Why did the chicken cross the road?
- What kind of cult would you like to start?
- What is the funniest name you have ever heard actually used?
- What is something you look stupid doing?
- What is the weirdest thing in your home?
- What is the weirdest thing you have seen someone wear?
- What is the funniest joke you know by heart?
- Think of a product, what would the absolute worst brand name be for one of these products?

I have grown so bored of the stagnant stuff that rolls through so often. Let’s spice these awards up a little, find out how people think–and have some fun!

How did you learn lucid dreams???
I’d love to see your paintings!
You know, you can paint your eyebrows with a pencil that suits your skin.

I think because I am so light in skin colour I might feel silly. But I have a light brown pencil, I might give this a go on a day I do not need to leave the house and see if it looks right. On the plus side, I have never needed to pluck them! 💜

They are usually dreams you remember. It is easy to wake up. You have to calm yourself sometimes to make sure you dont.

I wonder what possesses people to name their cars. I never did, but know a lot of people who do.
Your own language sounds phenomenal. It’s actually something I was wondering about doing throughout my life (on and off. mostly off, though). So cool and potentially so useful.
