Three Days, Three Quotes Challenge – Day 2

This Door is Alarmed’ was nominated for this challenge by The Britchy One. Her site is a comical whirlwind; if you read just one sentence, you will find yourself helplessly riding a tide of giggles and tremendous wit to her last word. I recommend checking her out.

Rules:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Post a quote for three consecutive days. (I am going to redesign ‘consecutive’ to mean ‘when you are able’ for my purposes.)
  3. Nominate three bloggers for each post.

Day Two

The anxiety you feel is the eagerness to confront it

This quote is an old one. I came across it in High School, and has sailed me through many a stressful sea; it is a semantic stew for the roiling churn and concern over uncontrollable futures—a godsend during my examination years and completing my degree. This quote holds the healing quality to turn fretfulness into fervour, and still works miracles to this day when presenting, making important speeches, or organising large events.

The words originate in the work of a couple of psychologists named Meichenbaum and Cameron, 1973. These guys created a number of coping thoughts to be used for stress-inoculation training. Their aim was to provide their clients with coping strategies at each stage of facing stress conditions, this quote makes up part of the ‘preparing for a stressor’ stage.
